Dom from Bouncing Ball Films

On Episode 4 of the Wedding Mavericks podcast I am in conversation with Dominic Yules from Bouncing Ball Films.

Dom has been a wedding videographer for over 8 years and although he lives in Yorkshire he has done most of his weddings abroad in places like Italy, France and even New York in America. Starting out as a photographer and progressing into video early in his career within the wedding industry, Dom has since developed a simple approach to wedding videography influenced by industry legends Jeff Wood and Philip White and he produces timeless, cinematic films.

Building a destination wedding film business

We discuss his journey from working for a printing company to moving into the wedding industry full time. In recent years his wife has also developed a wedding business providing a unique photo booth and Dom is heavily involved in this alongside running Bouncing Ball Films.

During the conversation we talk about everything from how Dom became inspired to get into wedding videography, how he developed his knowledge and skills by attending courses and mentorships with other wedding filmmakers and how he developed his presence in other countries, in particularly Italy. We discuss the pro’s and con’s of being a destination wedding videographer and some of the issues to overcome when it comes to pricing your work and finding clients who value video.
